Mary Beard, one of Britain's best-known Classicists, inaugurates the Gardner's new series, The Larger Conversation, which connects the Museum's collections and exhibitions to important social issues of our time. Focusing on Botticelli's Story of Lucretia, a work from the Museum's collection and a spotlight of our special exhibition, the lecture will cover the reception of Lucretia's disturbing story, from ancient Roman times to our own.

SPEAKER:

Mary Beard, Professor of Classics, Newnham College, Cambridge, author of the best-sellers Women & Power and SPQR.

The Museum is not open for regular visiting hours on Tuesdays. For this special event, the Palace will not be open to the public. However, the New Wing and the Botticelli exhibition in the Hostetter Gallery will be open for event ticket holders. The doors will open to 6 pm to ticket holders.
