An acclaimed blues/rock-centered band, The Jabalis have taken the blues music scene by surprise, combining blues, rock, jazz fusion, and afro beats into an altered blues sound. Led by bassist Nehemiah Muhiri, the group came up in January 2022, gaining a buzz with their first three singles, “Song of My Heart,” “Colors In The Night,” and “Fighting To Survive,” which led to the release of their first album later in fall 2022, published by MBM-IAH Records.
Registration is not required but the limited amount of seating is first come, first served. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Rabb Lecture Hall.
The group is made up of accomplished Berklee College of Music students, as it was founded by a group of friends who are all Berklee affiliated musicians. The group went on to gain traction in in Kenya, where the band leader is from. Their tracks went on to be placed in popular playlists around the globe. The group features Nehemiah Muhiri on bass, Matthew Bottone on vocals, Taylor Stanley on drums, Tyler Jenkins on trumpet, and Ryan Anderson on guitar.
Boston Public Library's Wednesday evening concerts are presented in partnership with Berklee College of Music, and all concerts in the series are sponsored by Bank of America.
