Taking pop vocal music in bold new directions, the House Jacks (Austin Willacy, Nick Girard, Mark Joseph, John Pointer, and Matt Sallee) are definitely not your grandfather’s a cappella group. Self-described as a rock band without instruments, the House Jacks put a modern, visceral spin on the genre, infusing their powerful vocals and precise harmonies with a large dose of energy and attitude.
Founded in 1991 by Deke Sharon, who's widely recognized as the father of contemporary a cappella, the House Jacks instantly reinvigorated the pop vocal scene with their high-energy shows and unconventional arrangements. Using nothing more than their five voices, they deliver everything from blistering funk to screaming rock to heart-melting ballads. Over the past 25 years, the group has become an institution, boasting nearly 20 superb vocalists and performers in their alumni ranks. They were instrumental behind the scenes on NBC’s The Sing Off!, creating arrangements, coaching groups, producing the cast albums, and helping to introduce some of today’s most well-known vocal groups to the world stage, including Pentatonix and Home Free.
These pioneering musicians have performed thousands of shows and shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music such as Ray Charles, James Brown, Train, LL Cool J, Run-DMC, and many others.
