The Gibson House Museum, a National Historic Landmark, presents “The Gibson House Museum’s Painting Collection,” commentary on select paintings by Ed Gordon, Gibson House Museum Director of Public Programs.
This tour will focus on select portraits, landscapes, and copies of Old Master European paintings located on the first and second floors of the museum. It will highlight artists such as Chester Harding, William Morris Hunt, Samuel T. Coleman, and others. We will discuss the known and probable provenance of the works and talk about the way specific interiors dictate the types of subject matter.
A wine and cheese reception will be held at 4:00 p.m. with the program at 4:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 members, $12 non-members.
Pre-registration is required through [email protected] or 617-267-6338.
The Gibson House Museum is located at 137 Beacon Street, between Arlington and Berkeley streets, convenient to both the Arlington Street subway stop on the Green Line and the Charles Street and Park Street subway stops on the Red Line.
