Curtain Call Theatre (CCT) in Braintree, MA will close the 2021-2022 season – their 60th season – with a production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon adapted by Simon Stephens on May 20 & 21 at 8:00 PM, May 22 at 2:00 PM, and May 18, 19 & 22 at 7:30 PM. Winner of the 2015 Tony Award for Best Play, the London Telegraph said, “This adaptation by acclaimed playwright Simon Stephens is intensely, innately theatrical; it is also funny and extremely moving.”

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is about a 15-year-old boy named Christopher Boone. Christopher has an extraordinary brain. He is expectational at mathematics, but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road; he detests being touched; he distrusts strangers. He also learns to face his fears and discovers that he is brave and courageous and that he can do anything!

Said The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time director, Toni Ruscio, “This story is for and about everyone. We live in such a divided world, where many of us tend to obsessively label people - either consciously or subconsciously- “us” and “them”. We tend to force our idea of normalcy onto others. But none of us is ‘normal’. And while we each have our own unique beliefs and opinions at our core most people aren’t really that different. Most people are good, and honest, and doing what they can every single day to make the best decisions possible for themselves and their loved ones. Sometimes we succeed, sometimes we don’t. And falling short of expectations, either our own or others’, is okay if we keep trying. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a story about differences. It’s a story about sameness. It’s a story about acceptance. It’s about you. It’s about me.”

Ruscio, also the theatre’s producing artistic director, added, “When we opened Curtain Call Theatre again in the fall of 2021 after shutting down for the pandemic in the spring of 2020, we were hoping for the best, but braced and planned for the potential challenges. Today we are thrilled to have had a very successful season so far and we look forward to a fabulous May! We have an amazing and supportive community of actors, directors, designers, volunteers, and patrons who really pulled together to make this season happen. It’s always a joy to bring people together for live performances - that is especially true having spent so much time apart. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is our gift to everyone who got us here. We appreciate you all so much.”
