Boston Venue Presents: The Channel Lunchtime Concert Series Redux!
In the late ’80s, in partnership with the rock and roll powerhouse WBCN, The Channel hosted a series of lunchtime concerts featuring local headliners, a ‘BCN emcee, free admission, and a free lunch — a hot dog with all the fixings!
These daytime shows routinely drew hundreds of fans that made the 10-minute walk down Summer St. from the financial, legal and retail districts in downtown Boston to what was then a desolate part of Southie.
Beginning this Friday, May 1st at noon, we'll be reprising those lunchtime mini-concerts, albeit this time in a virtual format, streaming live on Facebook and once again featuring Channel headliners including Jon Butcher, Sal Baglio, Dan Zanes plus legendary WBCN personalities like Chachi Loprete, Bradley Jay, and others TBA—We’re even working on a coupon for a free hot dog, post-crisis of course!
The concerts will be held every Friday at noon for the month of May. Each event will be about 30 minutes--perfect for your quarantine lunch hour!

On the weekend of May 29th to 31st (exactly 40 years since The Channel's opening), we'll be featuring a series of Zoom-powered, free-form performances, discussions, and previews of the way things will be again when the world emerges from our collective isolation.
We hope to raise money to help members of the Boston Rock and Roll community in need of some assistance caused in part by the widespread shutdown of local venues.
The money collected will be pooled and distributed to participants that need the help and to Right Turn, a great charity that assists musicians with substance abuse issues.
Boston Venue is an independent production company, relating the stories of legendary live music destinations of the ’80s and early ’90s, in and around Boston.
Season One: “Boston Venue: The Channel” Story Podcast's Episode 10, the not-so-grand-finale, will be released on May 29th.
