The history of social movements across the world has shown us that working-class artists and cultural workers in every discipline have played an important role in sustaining the energy, and soul of the people who carry these movements. This panel discussion will bring together local visual and performing artists to discuss the struggle of creating under capitalism and the role of artists in raising political consciousness for real change in our lifetime.
The panel will be hosted and moderated by Rachel Domond (painting, printing) and feature the following panelists: Sofia Perez (photography), Stephanie Houten (videography, photography), Payal Kumar (visual & oral arts), Gabby Ballard (dance), and Kimberly Villafuerte Barzola (murals, relief printing)
The panel discussion is a part of the closing reception of Cultural Army, a photography gallery at Dudley Cafe by Sofia Perez.
