A long time ago, there was a group of longtime friends/musicians, who, while busking in New Orleans, amused themselves with a t-shirt. This band eventually started booking shows at a dive bar that became one the more recent iconic music venues in Boston rock. The band was SCHNOCKERED, and the venue was the Abbey Lounge. With the help of the club and tons of great musicians doubling as staff, the Abbey became the home of “cheap booze and rock ‘n’ roll”, as well as a full-fledged scene, from May 1999-November 2008.


April 28-30, please join us at Sally O'Brien's in Somerville for the first annual celebration and reunion of the long-storied life that was the Abbey Lounge. Many “Abbey bands” are reuniting for this special event, Nicole Tammaro will be displaying her photos from that time, and there’ll be more surprises to come, including a Grand Finale Saturday!


The generosity of all the bands is overwhelming—all proceeds from the shows will be donated to the Eva Lipton Fund. Eva (daughter of Ivan Lipton, former President and CEO at Strawberries, Rebecca Lipton who worked for years in the music business) suffered a severe brain injury after a head-on collision in 2012 on the day of her prom. Eva still hasn’t recovered, and the proceeds will help her family pay for uncovered medical expenses, therapy and ongoing care needs (To donate, visit any Rockland Trust and make a donation to "Eva Lipton Supplemental Needs Trust", or at paypal.com send a donation to [email protected])
