Day 1: Natural Systems: What is at stake? -- TEDxBoston Talks
Day 2: Human Systems: What is required? -- TEDxBoston Talks
Day 3: What does it take to scale an idea? -- TEDxBoston Alumni Speaker Impact Stories + GBH Film Screenings
Following the Main Stage TEDxBoston program, we'll regather on Mon Nov 13, 2023 at the NE Aquarium Simons Theatre for a workshop around how ideas scale. We'll welcome Yvonne Hao, MA Secretary of Economic Development and Libby Wayman, Breakthrough Energy Ventures leader to frame scaling, funding, and impact solutions. TEDxBoston alumni will also share updates and impact stories about how their past ideas have evolved and expanded.
After a lunch break, GBH and NOVA will share two related films with commentary from the feature producers and subjects, to be announced.
AGENDA:
10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
SAT 10a-2p | Block 1: Natural Systems Talks @ MIT
What is at stake on Planet Earth? The beauty and brilliance of natural systems on this planet are under great stress. How can we notice, engage, protect, build empathy for that natural world to ensure its survival (and our own)?
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
SAT 2-6p | Block 2: Natural Systems Talks @ MIT
What does it look to cooperate with nature instead of control and commodify it? Can we reinvent incentive structures to make it viable (even profitable?!) to restore and support nature in our careers, cultures, and communities?
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
SAT 6-8p | 10x10 Workshop + Reception @ MIT
Audience will be invited to breakout with the speakers after the Main Stage program to help kick start dialogues and brainstorm next steps to amplify the talks presented on stage. Come mix and mingle and mindshare with the TEDxBoston community.
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
SUN 10a-2p | Block 3: Human Systems Talks @ MIT
How do human systems--our institutions, utilities, innovations--intervene in the natural world under pressure? Amazing technology and systems thinking innovations are on the cusp of transforming human life on the planet.
2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
SUN 2-5p | Block 4: Human Systems Talks @ MIT
What is required to fundamentally reorganize around collaboration with--rather than consumption of--nature. How can we design human systems better?
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
MON 10a-12p | Alumni Impact Stories @ NE Aquarium
Hosted at the New England Aquarium Simons Theatre. Morning session includes interviews and updates with TEDxBoston speakers from past cohorts. Where are their ideas now? What's on the horizon? Come join the conversation.
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
MON 12-4p | GBH/NOVA Film Screening @ NE Aquarium
Hosted at the New England Aquarium Simons Theatre. Afternoon session will be co-hosted by GBH and NOVA to screen locally-produced climate action content that intersects and amplifies the big ideas shared on stage at Planetary Stewardship.
4:00 PM - 6:00 PMM
MON 4-6p | Scale Sessions @ Andrew Mansion
An opportunity for smaller group meetings with Speakers and Idea Catalyst at a historic Boston location.
