Welcome to the Stevens-Coolidge library, a place of pleasant conversation, good friends and for this morning – tea time. Helen Stevens Coolidge kept a busy social calendar and we’d like to invite you to be a part of it. Enjoy seasonal teas and treats in the summer estate she shared with husband and US Diplomat John Coolidge, as a Trustees staff member combs through their expansive book collection and diaries. What did ladies talk about at tea in the 20th century? What did they write about? This snippet from Tuesday, January 8th may give you a glimpse into life in the Stevens-Coolidge home in 1924.
“We were quite late being delayed at a shop where nothing is ever ready on time and on reaching home found the Fullertons, all five, whom we had asked in to tea sitting round and playing with each other. We explained that we had been detained buying cake for them so they forgave us and ate it amply.”
Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
Intended for audiences 13+.
One ticket reserves a space for one person.
