ABOUT AJ:
AJ Rubin is a Boston based musician, circus artist, band leader, song writer, and multimedia tinkerer hailing from Portland, OR. Currently in their senior year at Berklee College of Music, where they enjoy a full scholarship, AJ has performed at globally renowned festivals and shared the stage with Jazzmeia Horn, Charmaine Neville, Old Crow Medicine Show, & others. As a bandleader, AJ explores many genres. AJ Rubin and The Ghost Notes, his 1920s-30s style band, captivate audiences with their historically inspired dance music and AJ’s project, The Klezmer Klub, mixes genres of Jewish folk and contemporary music from around the world and promotes shared cultural learning through art. By combining vintage vaudevillian charm with modern values, AJ strives to take every performance as an opportunity to make an effort towards social change. This year marks their graduation, the release of two eagerly awaited records, and a spectacular circus debut in NYC, all in collaboration with the Rubin Brothers, recipients of the 2021 Boston Opportunity Fund Grant, promising an unforgettable journey where music, circus, and showmanship converge.
