Summer isn’t officially over yet! Are you a student and love to draw? In collaboration with the Somerville Museum's next exhibit, The Art of Observation, we’re putting out a call for your artwork. Summer in Somerville’s deadline has been extended to 9/22. Watch this VIDEO to learn more!
Artist, David Campbell, featured in this exhibit, is well known for his drawings of everyday cityscapes. Campbell is a local artist who lives and works out of Brickbottom Artists Building and can often be found drawing with his young neighbor, Augustin. They find things they love to draw and spend hours together sketching. This event is inspired by their shared love of drawing ordinary things.
What do David and Augustin draw together? One example is the Green Line Extension (GLX) construction outside of their building.
Somerville is filled with everyday objects, landscapes, and activity that make great subject matter. What do you love to draw? Maybe its cars, cityscapes, food or people. Whatever it is, take this opportunity to create artwork from around Somerville and submit it to us for our next virtual exhibit, “Summer in Somerville.”
There is beauty all around us – go out and find yours!
The Museum will present selected entries in a virtual exhibit on our website.
A special thank you to the MassHumanities CARES Grant program and the National Endowment for Humanities CARES program for their contributions which help the Museum fund staff and programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
