While perhaps best known for its Oktoberfest each fall, dining at the Student Price and The Fort is not to be missed for its hearty German cuisine and festive flair which will remind you of Christmas in the old country. That's especially true with a glass of their special holiday eggnog.
In 1660 on this site, John Pynchon constructed a fort to defend the tiny settlement of Springfield. In October of 1675, the town was burned to the ground by the forces of King Philip’s Pocumtuck tribe. Only Pynchon’s fort withstood the attack.
The Student Prince has been a Springfield landmark since 1935 and boasts a stein collection that is one of the largest in the United States. They host live caroling every night in December and have the restaurant decked out to the nines for the holidays.
