On Sunday November 20 at 4 pm Convergence Ensemble brings together a quartet of esteemed local string players for Strings Galore at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Uphams Corner. Featuring guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan, violist Michelle LaCourse, violinist Heidi Braun-Hill and cellist Hyun-Ji Kwon, the ensemble will perform quartets for guitar and string trio as well as guitar and string duos.
The program illuminates the expressive possibilities of string instruments. Beethoven’s String Trio in G Major, Op. 9 No. 1 will be heard alongside a contemporary international mix of works by John Cage, Libby Larsen, Thomas Read, Antonio Celso Ribeiro, Roland Dyens, and Aaron Larget-Caplan himself!
Envisioned by Convergence Ensemble Artistic Director Rachel Goodwin, hailed by the press for her “gutsy, risk-taking programming” (Patriot Ledger), the Dorchester based group is excited to bring their work to Uphams Corner and continue its mission to inspire pride amongst our various Boston neighborhoods with music. In the weeks following the performance, the musicians will perform an interactive, educational program for the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Dorchester.
Cost: Suggested donation $15; free for students.
