Join the Norman B. Leventhal Map & Education Center and the Boston Map Society for a virtual book talk on public transit history in Boston. Author and map expert Steven Beaucher will discuss how his new book, “Boston in Transit” visualizes several centuries of public transit in Boston, spanning 17th century public ferries carrying English colonists, to horse-drawn coaches, steam railroads, electric streetcars, buses and eventually the creation and evolution of the MBTA. “Boston in Transit” tells the entire story of the city’s development and growth through the lens of public transportation online via the Leventhal’s YouTube and Facebook channels on March 30, 2021 from 12pm to 1:30pm, with a Q&A session to follow the presentation. Registration is available here.
