St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church of Boston is holding the eighth annual Serbian Festival in the Boston area. Celebrating the culture of Serbia, the festival will feature live music and performances by Grachanitsa Serbian Folk Dance Ensemble of Boston. Come enjoy traditional Serbian food, including grilled meats, vegetarian dishes, and desserts. There will be activities for children and church tours. The festivities will also include a video presentation about Serbia and a photo exhibit. Admission is FREE and the festival will be held rain or shine!


Program:


At this year's festival you will be able to enjoy performance of the Tamburitza band "Serbian Sons" from Pittsburgh who will be accompanied by a special guest from Chicago, violinist Sretena Petrovic-Sreja. The festival will feature four folk dance ensembles: Morava from San Diego, Kolo from Hamilton, Gracanica from Boston and the St. Sava Church of Boston children's folk dance ensemble.


There will be guided church tours featuring our beautiful iconostasis from the master carver, George Bilak. We will also have Serbian traditional souvenirs, books and religious items for sale.


The festival will also include a video presentation about Serbia and a photo exhibit. Special Guest: Master photographer from Serbia Imre Szabo, with exhibit "Gucha"


Menu:


Below are some of the traditional dishes that will be prepared for the festival:


Pork and lamb from the spit.
Ćevapi (Sausages) made of minced meat, onions and spices.
Prebranac (Baked Beans – Vegan) baked beans in onion and paprika sauce.
Gibanica (Cheese Pie – Vegetarian) savory pastry dish made with cheese and eggs.


Palačinke (Crepes) delicious crepes with a choice of fillings.
Žito (Wheat pudding) boiled wheat berries with nuts and honey, served with whip cream.
Baklava: sweet pastry made of layers of filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and honey.
