Join Spark as we kick off with a series of three events exploring the technology behind PlantWave, the device that turns biometric data into song.
Ever wonder if all those houseplants you have collected over the years have a story to share? Or a song to sing? Using PlantWave technology, now you can find out.
Join us for the newest innovation and tech series, Spark for Breathwork with Biorhythms on Sunday, September 24, at The Rocks in Harbor Way at 10:00am for a chance to listen to Seaport’s Singing Trees, while being guided through a breathwork session lead by PlantWave creator, Joe Patitucci.
PlantWave was created with the intention of amplifying the connection between humans and the natural world. By monitoring the subtle fluctuations of plant biorhythms, PlantWave turns this data into, well...plant music. The plant biorhythms and music are dependent on the environment they are in, so grab your mat and listen to the sounds of Seaport.
Joe Patitucci is an artist fostering connection to nature through sound, breath and technology. He's best known for his pioneering work in plant music, a practice of data sonification where electrical impedance within plants is translated into sound. Joe has been sharing this work through sonic art installations at museums, festivals and public spaces around the world since 2012. As CEO of Data Garden, Joe is working to build a future where humans will have a real-time soundtrack to their lives generated from wearable data that is responsive to mood, tailored to taste and optimized for any activity.
This will be an equipment-free at The Rocks. If you would like to bring a mat, you are welcome to bring one with you.
This program is brought to you by @seaportbos
Follow along with the Spark series with the other PlantWave events: Data Sonification Workshop and Nature's Networks: Integrating Biology and Circuitry.
