South Street Diner, Boston’s longest running late-night restaurant is hosting a celebration in honor of Chinese New Year during the Lion Dance festivities on Sunday, February 18th. Join the party at the late-night restaurant and see the troops of colorful lion dancers up close as they enter the diner with drums, cymbals and firecrackers, and watch as they are fed the customary oranges and lettuce.
Owner Sol Sidell is also embracing the annual celebration in the neighborhood by serving his spin on traditional Asian dishes, including special Breakfast Ramen with two eggs, diced bacon, and ramen, and signature Egg Foo Young Style Omelette with bean sprouts, water chestnuts, bok choy, shredded carrots, and beef gravy. To drink, there will be a special Lychee Cocktail to commemorate the Year of the Dragon.
Come dance with the dragon and enjoy delicious food and beverages this Chinese New Year at South Street Diner!
ABOUT SOUTH STREET DINER:
South Street Diner (formerly the Blue Diner) was built in 1947 by the Worcester Dining Company to serve local factory workers. Over the years, the late-night restaurant has become a local landmark, a constant in Boston’s late-night scene and a final evening destination for local residents, students and visitors. When the clubs close, the late-night restaurant is the place to grab something to eat, hang out with friends, celebrity watch, and keep the party going. No visit to Boston is complete without a stop to the South Street Diner. Over the years, the late-night restaurant has been called "The PLACE for college students to start their Spring Break Tour" by Rolling Stone Magazine and has gained additional recognition after being featured on Good Morning America (GMA) as part of its United States of Breakfast competition in 2023. The late-night restaurant has also appeared in numerous feature films, including: Hiding Out with John Cryer; Second Sight with John Laroquette; House Guest with Steve Martin; 21; The Blue Diner for PBS, and featured in the DC Comic ‘BatGirl.’
