Sound On is a concert series at WBUR CitySpace highlighting rising local musicians. Artists run the gamut from fresh faces new on the scene and experiencing a meteoric rise, to tried-and-true musicians who’ve been around for decades and are creating their most resonant work to date. Most importantly, the musicians featured in the series are producing excellent, original and compelling work — right in Boston’s own backyard.
Join us for a music festival headlined by singer-songwriter Miranda Rae, who is on a journey to redefine the sound of neo-soul and R&B to fit her style. Her rich and adventurous vocal range led to a Boston Music Award for R&B Artist of the Year in 2020 and later drew the attention of producers at Boston Calling where she performed in 2022. The artistic growth of Rae, who started singing publicly by chance at an artist showcase night in Florida, is palpable in recent songs including the trap-driven “BLUYELLO” (2020) featuring Dutch ReBelle, the soulful “Mama Says” (2021) and the bouncy and infectious ”Moonlight” (2021).
Joining Rae for the show are singer-songwriter Chris Walton who blends classic soul, jazz and funk with a modern aesthetic, and Sarah Badiee, aka Club Indigo, a DJ serving up remixes with intriguing samples, original production and captivating rhythm.
