To open its 50th Anniversary Season, Dinosaur Annex Music Ensemble presents Sound Bites, a compilation of chamber works paired with tasty culinary responses.
To start its 50th Anniversary Season, Dinosaur Annex Music Ensemble presents its Season Opener, Sound Bites, a compilation of chamber works paired with tasty culinary responses. Composers represented include longtime collaborators with Dinosaur Annex, along with the ensemble's first performances of a new generation of charting the future of contemporary music.
We revisit Lee Hyla's invigorating String Trio, full of leaps and turns, originally written for Dinosaur Annex in 1981. Long-time flutist Sue-Ellen Hershman-Tcherepnin takes us on an aerial journey via a repeat performance of Ezra Sims' Flight. An inventive duo - Ephemera - by frequent Dino collaborator and beloved Boston-area composer Yehudi Wyner portrays the experience of fleeting moments in life. Loretta Notareschi's Promise and Peril draws musical inspiration from her work mentoring young composers. Joseph Sowa's Apple Fantasy provides an upbeat and timely reflection on Autumn. Jessie Montgomery's Play and Leilehua Lanzilotti's fragile yet inviting to be two closes out what promises to be a most celebratory event.
Chef Jennifer Wu will provide bite-sized tasty delights using original recipes that respond to the musical works.
Special birthday tribute compositions from long-time collaborators Tom Flaherty, Tamar Diesendruck, and current Artistic Director Hubert Ho will be included as well!
