Join us for a reading, discussion and book signing with Michelle Slater the author of the fantastic new book Soulmate Dog.


Michelle had an extraordinary relationship with her German Shepherd, Brady, and the book charts the nature of love and the inevitability of loss that accompanies it, while showcasing the language that can exist between dogs and humans.

In her own life, Michelle explored holistic medicine and alternative medical options when trying to find a cure for her advanced Lyme disease (which she chronicled in her first memoir, Starving to Heal in Siberia). Therefore, when Brady became seriously ill at the age of five, (and according to his vets, should not have survived), Michelle began exploring alternative treatments for Brady as well, turning this into a story of the expanding field of modern integrative veterinary medicine too.


As a result of her extraordinary connection with Brady and the journey that they took together, Brady transformed the way that Michelle sees animal beings. This perspective has shaped her understanding of the human-animal relationship.
