You're definitely going to want to pencil this in.
Whether you're a mini Matisse, a Picasso protégé, or just finding your way around the drawing pad, it's time to get sketchy.
Draw out your inner artists with us at Sketch Sesh, Tuesdays from 5:00 - 7:00pm in The Superette Courtryard. Local artist Lee "SOEMS" (and some occasional guests stars) will guide you through fun and easy drawing exercises alongside local live music and beats. Classes are free and open to the public and don't worry, we'll bring the drawing supplies. All you've got to pack is your creativity and willingness to try a new skill.
Classes may cover a variety of subjects including still life arrangements, live models, Seaport views, or even some of your favorite neighborhood pups! There’s always something fresh to sketch.
Bring the kids, your partner, your besties, or come alone and make a new friend! This is a judgment-free zone where everyone is welcome and all art is good art. We can't wait to see what you create.
October 8th - Special Spooky Class!
Join artists Bill Crisafi and Hogan McLaughlin as they lead a special Halloween edition Sketch Sesh class.
Bill Crisafi is an artist who lives and works in Chicago, IL. His body of work is heavily influenced by the occult, drag, fashion and the nostalgia he has for the dark history of his home state of Massachusetts. He communicates his ideas through illustration, sculpture and photography which explore themes of magic, folklore, merged together with a touch of camp and humor. His photographic work developed from his passion for costume construction, and allows him to bring to life the world he creates through illustration.
Crisafi holds a degree both in Fashion Design from The Fashion Institute of Technology as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School for the Museum of Fine Arts & Tufts University.
Hogan McLaughlin is an American fashion designer, artist, and dancer. He began his professional career as a ballet dancer, performing with the internationally acclaimed Hubbard Street 2 and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. In 2011, he met and collaborated with artist Daphne Guinness on his first garments, which ended up on display in the windows of Barneys New York Madison Avenue, and at the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Later that year, McLaughlin launched his first collection for New York Fashion Week under his name, and was subsequently profiled by The New York Times, WWD, Vogue.com, among other publications, and had the opportunity to create custom looks for a number of high profile clients including Lady Gaga and Billy Porter. As an illustrator, he has had the pleasure of creating promotional images for HBO's Game of Thrones, Showtime's Penny Dreadful, and History Channel's Vikings.
This program is brought to you by @seaportbos and @SIDEpresents. All events are free and open to the public. RSVP's are not required to attend. Registering on Eventbrite helps us communicate if there is a change in venue or cancellation due to weather. All are welcome regardless of RSVP.
