Sneha Shrestha, also known as IMAGINE, is a Nepali street artist who blends the Sanskrit calligraphy of the Nepali language with street art and graffiti, creating what she calls “calligraffiti.” On Wednesday March 27, 2019, Shrestha will present her site-specific mural for the Trustman Art Gallery at Simmons University during opening reception from 5-7pm.
Shrestha is the first artist to combine the Nepali alphabets with American graffiti, and her art has been displayed in numerous exhibitions and on public walls around the world from Boston to Kathmandu, Bali to Istanbul, Phnom Penh to Geneva. She has created work for clients such as Harvard, Reebok, Montana Cans, Trip Advisor, Neiman Marcus, Red Bull, and most recently Vogue.
Shrestha is an artist, educator, and social entrepreneur. She established Nepal’s first Children’s Art Museum to provide a creative space where children and youth can develop 21st century skills through project-based art experiences. She has also worked for Artists for Humanity in Boston, which played a huge role in inspiring her to dedicate her life to art, education, and innovative social impact.
The Golden Equinox exhibition will be on view from March 25 - April 17 in the Trustman Art Gallery at Simmons University, located on the fourth floor of the Main College Building, 300 The Fenway in Boston. Closed April 15.
Trustman Gallery hours are 10 AM- 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The gallery is free, open to the public and wheelchair accessible. For more information, contact Marcia Lomedico at 617-521-2268, find us on Facebook or visit the Trustman Art Gallery website at www.simmons.edu/trustman.
