Richard Pawlak grew up in Chelsea, MA and was classically trained at Montserrat College of Art in the school’s early years on the North Shore. Now based on the South Shore for the past many years, Richard has compiled an impressive and profound body of work as an abstract expressionist artist and master craftsman. His impeccable balance of form and color is evident in his street scene frescoes—his glorious appreciation of people in daily urban life. Rendered on small and mid-sized slabs of MDF board, human forms are simplified into soft colorful beings in everyday motions and tableaus on the street. Faces are obscured as if to suggest they could be anyone; they could be your neighbor, they could be your friend… The emotional appeal of Richard’s work is very real and honest. The visual appeal is palpable for its appreciation for humanity but also for Richard’s architectural angles and endlessly satisfying color schemes.
On view now through March 27, 2022 are twenty-eight of Richard’s frescoes waiting to be appreciated. Come visit the gallery sometime soon!
