Science by the Pint is a free science café in which we invite a Boston-area research lab out to a pub or brewery to chat science over a cold one. The events are geared toward a general audience – all are welcome and no experience is necessary!

Dr. Pawan Sinha
Professor: Vision and Computational Neuroscience
MIT Brain and Cognitive Sciences

Research in Dr. Sinha's laboratory focuses on understanding how the human brain learns to interpret and recognize complex sensory signals, such as images and videos. The lab's approach involves studying healthy individuals as well as those with neurological disorders, including autism. In addition to deriving clues about the nature and development of the human visual system, the lab aims to develop more powerful and robust AI systems. In 2005, Dr. Sinha founded "Project Prakash," which has the twin objectives of providing treatment to blind children and elucidating the mechanisms of learning and plasticity in the brain.
