HCA’s Wicked Weekend would not be complete without our Halloween Scarecrow Contest!
Have you always wanted to create your very own scarecrow? Here is a chance to let your imagination run wild and compete for fun prizes in the process.
Gather up your supplies and enter the HCA’s 2023 Scarecrow Contest. The $10 entry fee includes the stake/stand that the HCA will provide to display your scarecrow.
All ages are welcome to participate. One entry fee per person/group. This is a great team building activity! Youth groups, classrooms, service clubs, organizations, families, individuals and businesses are invited to participate.
DETAILS:
Drop-off Date: Deliver your scarecrow to the HCA on Friday October 20th or Saturday, October 21 between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. If you prefer to assemble your scarecrow on site, you may do so.
Materials: It is best to use stuffing materials that are lightweight and will maintain shape: plastic bags, packing materials. Please secure all articles of clothing and/or props so they do not blow away.
Display Dates: Scarecrows will be on display on HCA grounds between October 21–31.
Pick-up Dates: Participants who want to take their scarecrows home may do so between November 1–3.
Theme: You are not restricted to any theme. Scarecrows can by traditional, whimsical, funny, off-beat. Just be sure that your scarecrow is family friendly.
Awards: Saturday, October 28 — awards will be given for creativity at the HCA’s Monster Mash party. Judges will be looking for scarecrows with that little bit extra! It may be the materials used, the way the scarecrow has been made, how the scarecrow is displayed, or simply a fantastic idea that catches the judges eye.
