From environmental degradation to municipal corruption, from development and zoning to the mundane details of neighborhood life, local journalism is crucial for civic engagement and for holding those in power accountable.


Northeastern journalism professor and GBH News contributor Dan Kennedy will talk about the forces that brought local news to its current low ebb, as well as why a new generation of independent media are succeeding.
