If we haven't hiked together in the past then please answer the following before you sign up:
1. Do you have all the gear?
2. What were your last few camping trip which involved hiking?
3. Have you climbed any 4000 footers?
4. If answer to 3 is 'No' then what is your hiking experience?
Welcome to this epic hike up Mt. Saddleback and Saddleback Horn! Two 4000 footers in Maine with a ridge walk in between thats often compared to Franconia ridge. The plan is to leave early on Saturday to reach the trailhead before 10:00am. We will take the berry pickers trail up to the two summits (11miles, 2600ft elevation). This trail is used be locals over the last 150 years to pick blueberries on the ridge and offers some great hiking with nice views. Post hike we will head over to the Piazza rock tent site, which is 1.5mile from the nearest parking lot on the AT (also our car park for the night).
This means you will have to hike in 1.5miles to the tent site with your backpack and all your camping equipment. Possibly close to dusk and also setup camp while it's no longer light out. So please don't make this your first camping trip.
