WBUR City Space and The Theater Offensive present Sad Satan: A Way Back to Heaven. A performance by SERAAH with visuals by SAMO
Following 2018's harrowing "Chrome Tears", LAB Grant recipient/TTO Resident Artist Seraah will be self releasing an EP titled "Sad Satan" November 17 2019. In Seraah’s words, The EP is inspired by “the need to actualize something more superior than the feelings that sought to drain them of their light and bemire their sovereignty.” With all healing the only way out is through, and thus Seraah was thrust into the depths of the psyche, forced to reconcile with the darkness that bubbles beneath. Sad Satan, as a result, is their personal roadmap through the aches and pains of physicality, and into the impenetrable nature of the light that darkness carefully cradles. The performance is a physical manifestation of these ideas as Seraah unifies the multiplicity of their artistic language though song, (corporeal) performance art, and visual arts, all coalescing into a striking spectacle and story.
Supporting acts include Philadelphia-based performance artist Marcelline Mendang, and Detroit-based harpist Ahya Simone.
Visuals created and performed by Sam “SAMO” Okerstrom-Lang
Sad Satan is supported by The Boston Foundation LAB grant. This project is also supported through The Theater Offensive's OUT'hood Residency Program.
