More about KONSTANTIN:
Konstantin Gevondyan (@shinyhorn) is a bright trad jazz trumpeter & showman, the all-time leader of the Moscow Ragtime Band. A few years before graduating the Russian Academy of Music in 2001 as a classical artist, Konstantin decided to devote himself to the music that won his heart – New Orleans jazz. Within the past decade he has built strong relations with top hot jazz musicians from different parts of the world, collaborating with such artists as Meschiya Lake, Aurora Nealand, Antti Sarpila, Charlie Fardella, Eldar Tsalikov, Lee Floyd, Mara Kaye and many others. Konstantin is also the co-creator and music director at “The Bix”, an aspirational speakeasy jazz bar in Moscow, which won the 2019 Bar of the Year award in Russia.
While visiting U.S. since July this year, Konstantin has been playing with various local jazz bands led by renowned trad jazz musicians, including David Ostwald, Terry Waldo, Vince Giordano, Mara Kaye and others. Colescott Rubin is one of the artists who has performed with Konstantin’s band in 2019 in Moscow. This October Konstantin is gladly joining the Rubin Brothers for a series of their self-produced performances in Boston.
More about the RUBIN BROS:
A.J. and Colescott Rubin are Boston-based musicians, entertainers, vaudevillians, and jazz clowns who lift spirits and make smiles wherever they go, performing swing, blues, & popular songs of yesteryear with a lighthearted energy and danceable beat. Student and staff at Berklee College of Music, respectively, they have performed across the country and internationally, including in New Orleans, Iceland, Moscow, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, and elsewhere. They have performed and/or recorded with Esperanza Spalding, Patrice Rushen, Catherine Russell, Charmaine Neville & John Legend, among others. Last year, they were given the Boston Opportunity Fund Award by the City of Boston to support their artistic careers. In NYC this spring, their debut recording was produced on all pre-1930s recording equipment. When not touring, they play sold out swing dances at Harvard, along with shindigs, hootenannies, jamborees & soirées across New England.
