On November 15, Abe & Louie’s will welcome premier Napa Valley winery, Roy Estate, to the Back Bay for a night of perfect pairings. The evening, co-hosted by Certified Sommelier, Patrick Seymour, will pair three-plus-courses of delectable cuisine with the grande cru from the Roy Estate. Established in 1999, the 17-acre vineyard – situated immediately south of the renowned Stags Leap District at the cooler southern end of the Napa Valley – specializes in producing cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot.
Hosted in “Louie Louie” – the second level dining room overlooking Boylston Street – Seymour will team up with Abe & Louie’s executive chef, Mark Mariano, in presenting a curated menu designed for the cuisine and wine to balance brilliantly. During the reception, the 2022 Lail Vineyards Blueprint sauvignon blanc will be complemented by the chef’s selection of passed hors d'oeuvres. The first course is a braised short rib ravioli with sauteed morel mushrooms and fresh thyme paired with a duo of Roy Estate wines: 2018 Mr. Evans red blend, and the 2014 Proprietary Red. Moving to the entrée, oenophiles will sip two standouts from the winery – the 2014 and 2018 cabernet sauvignon – while indulging in a seared New York strip with Nueske’s bacon, potato pave and bordelaise. For dessert, Abe & Louie’s signature chocolate cake with fresh whipped cream will be served alongside additional pours of the 2014 and 2018 cabernet sauvignon, Roy Estate exclusives generally reserved for onsite tasting at the winery only.
