Roxbury Community College (RCC) continues celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a two-day Health Wellness & Healing Forum. The Forum is an intentional space for the community to prioritize physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing. Free and open to the public, the forum provides local people of all ages with space to engage in critical conversations about mental health, discover sustainable routines and practices for healthy living, and get moving. 3pm-5pm Youth Sports as a Catalyst for Change will explore how athletics have the power to improve physical, mental, and emotional health in addition to building confidence, communication, and problem solving skills. Representatives from some of Boston’s oldest and most impactful youth sports programs will share how to create success on and off the field.

11:30am-12:20pm Panel Discussion: A Racial Reckoning with Injustice: Where & How We Live invites audiences to consider how George Floyd’s death altered race relations and sparked a national conversation. Panelists include Michael Curry, Esq., Mass League of Community Health Centers; Dr. Charles Anderson, The Dimock Center; Shumeane Benford, City of Boston; Nashira Baril, Neighborhood Birth Center; and Juan Fernando Lopera, Beth Israel Lahey Health.
12:30pm-1pm Keynote and Call to Play will feature renowned U.S. Paralympian April Holmes. Holmes has been recognized as one of the International Paralympic Committee's "Top 10 Women in Paralympic Sport," named the NCAA 2015 Inspirational Athlete of the Year, was appointed a US Anti-Doping Ambassador, and joined forces with former First Lady Michelle Obama on the "Let's Move" Campaign.
1pm-2:30pm Fireside Chat & Luncheon will include a discussion between Jackie Jenkins-Scott, Interim President of RCC; Dr. Kevin Tabb, President and CEO of Beth Israel Lahey Health; and Dr. Bob Higgins, President of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Executive Vice President at Mass General Brigham about inequities in healthcare that were revealed and exacerbated by the pandemic.
10am-6pm Day of Play and Wellness Festival will be ongoing and feature hands on activities at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center including basketball and exercise classes.
10am-6pm Cooking & Healthy Food Circuit will be conducted by nutritionists and dieticians from the Grove Hall Stop & Shop. Experts will be sharing their best tips and resources to kick start and maintain healthy cooking habits.
