MIDDAY Movement Series, a near decade-old grassroots dance initiative, presents the inaugural Rough Drafts Showcase, an informal showing of six contemporary choreographers’ works-in-progress.


Rough Drafts is a program aiming to support early- and mid-career contemporary choreographers to deepen their relationship to their choreography; communicate more effectively with dancers, collaborators, and audiences; and fuel longer incubation periods for their creative processes. Since January, MIDDAY has hosted one artist each month to lead professional-level dance classes and present an informal showing with audience talkbacks.


The program culminates with the Rough Drafts Showcase, in which the program artists, their dancers, and audiences alike will experience new stages of each choreographer’s development in a black box setting. Audiences are invited to see the artists’ processes, either for the first time or returning from the in-studio showings. The matinee show will include a post-show panel discussion.
