Whether we are standing, seated, or lying down, our hips affect the way our spine feels because they support the spine the way a plant would support the blossoming of a flower. In this informative workshop with a specific focus on the hips and pelvic area, Amy Sullivan will take you through a powerful and active two-hour class to strengthen and tone the lower abdomen and pelvic area. This work can help to increase flexibility, alleviate back and joint pain, and create an opportunity to experience the deep and powerful emotional center of the hips. We will concentrate on poses that are grounding, strengthening, and also hydrating.
The workshop will begin with a grounding meditation, energizing pranayama and a slow, rooting but challenging asana practice. By grounding and rooting on a physical level, according to Yoga texts and Ayurvedic philosophy, we can help to create balance on an energetic level. This is especially useful for the Fall season, which is often a changing and unsettling time of year. You’ll leave refreshed, energized and with some practical tools to help set the tone for strong bones, fluid body, and a steady consistent mindset.
