Advocates for disadvantaged youth, families, and communities will be honored at Embracing the Legacy, the premier annual gala of Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps, which raises funds to support its programs. The organization, which is embarking on its 50th year of service, is a national leader in developing and implementing successful models of child welfare, social service and juvenile justice programs. It was founded in the memory of the late Senator to carry out his principles of social justice for poor and disadvantaged children.
During the event, RFK Children’s Action Corps board members Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy, III and Matt Kennedy will reflect on their late grandfather’s legacy and the lasting contributions he made toward protecting society’s most vulnerable children and families. Also serving as event chairs are board members John Boyle III, of Wayland, Vice Chairman at Cushman & Wakefield, and James Geraghty, of Westford, Managing Director at Morgan Stanley.
The event will include a cocktail reception, seated dinner and program, including the presentation of the Embracing the Legacy award to the following nominees: William Gross, Superintendent-In-Chief of the Boston Police Department; Tracy Palandjian, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Social Finance Inc.; and Bob Rivers, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Eastern Bank.
Susan Wornick, former anchor of WCVB-TV’s midday newscast and a longtime supporter, volunteer and member of RFK Children’s Action Corps’ Advisory Council, will emcee the 400-person event.
The event will be held on Friday, June 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, Columbia Point, Boston. Individual tickets are $500 and corporate sponsorship opportunities are available.
