Join us in our back taproom at 284 Broadway as we collaborate with our nonprofit partner; Matahari Womens' Worker Center and our friends at Curio Spice Co; to bring you a sensory experience and guided tasting of our new Rise Up, a Wheat Ale with Hibiscus and Curio’s Fleur Spice Blend.
The hibiscus flower and spice blend used in the beer is sourced from Curio Spice Co., an award winning women-owned company located in Somerville. To highlight the unique ingredients, this event will feature a “sensory breakdown” of the beer, where you can smell and sample the individual grains, spices, and hops used in the beer while being among the first to try “Rise Up” on draft.
If you’d like to get even deeper into the sensory experience, purchase one of the limited number of “guided tasting” tickets* for $25 to join us early from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. In this tasting, one of our senior brew staff will lead you through a complementary flight of four beers, while teaching you more about the brewing process, recipe development, and what makes this project so special. A portion of your ticket cost will also help to fund the incredible work Matahari is doing to uplift workers affected by gender injustice.
Or, if you’d rather attend for free, register for a “general admission” ticket to join us from 7:30 pm onwards. We’ll offer a custom self-guided tasting flight (available for purchase) at the bar, as well as free samples of the new beer. Folks from Curio Spice will be there with samples and spices for purchase, including the award-winning fleur spice blend we used in Rise Up. You’ll also be able to mix and mingle with the Matahari team and learn more about the amazing impact they’ve made in our community working on behalf of women and femme workers, as well as more opportunities to get involved.
We brewed Rise Up, a delicate floral-spiced Wheat Ale, to benefit the Matari Womens’ Workers Center. A dollar off of every taproom pour and four pack sold will support Matahari’s mission of protecting the rights of women and femme workers in Massachusetts.
We have a limited number of spots available for this special evening, grab your tickets now before they sell out!
*”Guided Tasting” tickets include access to the event from 7:30 pm onwards as well.
