Pianist Rina Yamazaki is originally from Saitama, Japan. Before coming to the US, Rina had the honor of studying with the great pianist Makoto Ozone in Tokyo.


Earlier this year, Rina recorded her first project as a leader with Peter Washington on bass and Neal Smith on drums. The recording was featured on WGBO in their Jazz Appreciation Month series. She toured in Japan, played in Switzerland with Ralph Peterson, and played at Smalls in NYC with Neal Smith. In June 2018, she was awarded 2nd place in the Ellis Marsalis International Jazz PIano Competition, where she also received the Chico and Lupe O'Farrill Award for Best Original Composition.


Rina will be joined by a rhythm section TBD.
