Can you see sounds? Can you hear colors? In Richie Smith's Color Room, the deeply personal experience of synesthesia is brought into real life in a dazzling display. Notes, chords and harmonies from Richie’s live guitar signal color-changing lights throughout the room. As the space fills with each unique palette and original sound, artwork becomes music in real time and your favorite songs can become lush colorscapes.
Richie is a Boston-based guitarist and composer whose music combines everything from jazz to rock, from contemporary classical to experimental music to make for an event to remember. Through technical virtuosity, creative effects, and exciting arrangements, Richie keeps listeners on the edge of their seats. In addition to his solo music, he is the baritone guitarist of folk rock band Holystone. He frequently collaborates with drummer Zak King and Eric Klaxton of the Soggy Po’ Boys.
This is a free event which highlights the artwork currently on display; the vibrant vintage paintings of deceased artist Myra Wilson. As promotion as well for participating artists such as Richie and in support of the gallery as a local arts resource, we are humbly suggesting token amount donations at the door. Bring someone you love, support the arts, and join Richie at honeyjones on the cusp of Valentine’s Day for a unique audio visual experience !
Space is limited to eight vaccinated and masked guests for each performance.
Sign-up is open with three 30-minute slots on both Friday 2/11 and Saturday 2/12 and two 30-minute slots on Sunday 2/13.
