About the Lecture

Nature conservation and climate change are two of the most pressing conversations happening around the Boston Harbor Islands and Massachusetts at large. Insects are at the foundation of our natural ecosystems, and yet they rarely take center stage during these conversations.

Colonialism disrupts ecosystems and shapes our relationship to the natural world. In this lecture, we will explore this topic through the lens of honeybees, while also learning about our lesser known native bees.
