Join us for our next concert this Friday at the Somerville Museum! We have a fantastic program of works by Daniel Cueto, Miguel del Aguila, Arturo Marquez, Luis Calvo, and Astor Piazzolla Special thanks to the Somerville Arts Council for making this concert possible!
$10 tickets (free for museum members) and includes museum admission!
This program is the perfect complement to the Somerville Museum's seasonal exhibit Bittersweet, curated by two leading artists from Colombia and Peru. After a quick introduction in Mexico with Danzon no. 5 by Arturo Marquez, our program tours South America south to north starting in Argentina with Astor Piazzolla's Tango Suite. Next we perform Transoceanica by Miguel del Aguila (Uruguay) - musically depicting a bus adventure from Rio Brazil to Lima Peru. After arriving in Peru we will perform two works we commissioned by Pervian composer Daniel Cueto: Momentos Peruanos and Amaru, and complete the program with a brand new arrangement of Colombian composer Luis A. Calvo's Lejano Azul. A short clip of Daniel Cueto's Momentos Peruanos can be heard here: https://youtu.be/EK_M-g1bzyI
This is also the second-to-last day to see the Somerville Museum's special exhibit "Bittersweet".
