Join us for an open house event on Georges Island, featuring our artist-in-residents Robin MacDonald Foley and Brian Sonia Wallace.
Creative souls of all ages are invited to attend this open house which features interactive presentations from two of our artists-in-residence:
Robin MacDonald Foley’s Project: "Harbor Islands Story Book"
The public will be invited to create their own pocket story book with resident artist Robin MacDonald-Foley. Using various art media supplied by the artist, Robin will guide you through the process of making a hand embellished keepsake of your experience on the Boston Harbor Islands. Robin's residency project, "Quilting the Islands Together", will be on display, further inspiring this unique outdoor art experience while sharing our stories.
Brian Sonia-Wallace: “Harbor Islands Type-in & Poem Exchange”
Bring yourself (and a typewriter if you have one!) for a short poetry writing workshop with resident poet Brian Sonia-Wallace. Through a series of prompts, Brian will guide you through a partnered writing exercise to create a one-of-a-kind piece of literature about your life, or a message for a loved one, to take home. In this age of instant communication, this is a time to slow down. Brian has been writing poems for strangers on a typewriter through this residency, and will share some of these moments as well. Several typewriters, paper, and pens provided.
