Sheriff Hodgson does not simply sport white supremacist neckwear: He upholds these ideals by consistently abusing those in his custody, who are predominantly people of color. His record speaks for itself: More inmates die in Hodgson’s jails than any other county in Massachusetts, one of them — a woman — just a week ago; he attacked detainees in the Bristol County ICE Detention Center in Dartmouth on May 1, 2020; he has attempted to send inmates to build Donald Trump’s wall, a move for which he was sued by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice; and he has chosen to collaborate with ICE through the 287(g) agreement, despite the Trump administration caging children and splitting innocent families.
Date: Thursday, June 18th
Where:
The car caravan will gather at the Logan street parking lot in the Wamsutta area of New Bedford at 11:30am. The car caravan will pass the rally site, the BLM rally corner, and the Ash street jail, etc.
Those on foot will stand out in front of the Federal building on 6th street in downtown New Bedford at 12pm. At the end of the rally we hope to march to County and Union to show solidarity with BLM.
