I've gone with this tour operator; their guides are highly competent.

The plan is to drive up there Saturday and camp nearby: https://threeriverswhitewater.com/camping-the-forks-maine/

Campsites are cheap @ $20/night. There's also food and drinks nearby at a Brewery.

There's also an Inn (Sterling Inn, just a few miles away) for those not interested in Camping.

I'll be driving up there, so happy to take a few with me.
