Have you ever felt that there is something deeper to politics than parties and elections? Are you unmotivated to read theory and critical nonfiction without other people to keep you accountable? Have you ever felt as though there’s a wall you just can’t breach between you and activist thought? The Radical Reading Group is intended to help.
Facilitated by one of our fantastic booksellers, Jimmy, the group will focus on books and supplementary readings outside of the mainstream language usually used to discuss politics, centering on critiques of white supremacy, settler colonialism, and cis-hetero patriarchy, as well as prison abolition, anarchism, identity, and healing. We may dip into artistic formats such as poetry, plays, and novels as well. Everybody willing to show up and dig in is welcome, though it is worth noting that the group isn't intended to be an introduction to leftist thought. While most core readings will be prioritized according to accessibility, not every book may be everyone’s strongest suit. This is ok, and is fully expected! This is not a graded school course. More than anything, we will attempt to bask in the joy of collectively imagining our futures.
Our full food and drink menu will be available during the discussion
