It's a battle of pizza instead of pigskin this Thanksgiving in Quincy, Mass. and students at both of the city's public high schools will emerge victorious.

With the annual Quincy-North Quincy Thanksgiving Day football game a victim of the Covid crisis, Boardwalk Pizza (332 Victory Road, Marina Bay) is hosting a “virtual” Turkey Day showdown with their friends from the Quincy-based Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse.

It’s a fundraiser to see which school loves pizza more: the Quincy High Presidents or the North Quincy High Red Raiders.

Here’s how it works:

Students, parents, alumni, friends and fans of both high schools are invited to purchase pizzas, subs or salads from Boardwalk Pizza and wear their team colors or otherwise profess their allegiance to their school when they pick up their orders from now until the end of November

For every pizza sold to a Quincy or North Quincy parent, student, alumnus, friend, fan or supporter between now and November 30 Boardwalk Pizza will donate $1.

Their donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by both the 2020 Major League Lacrosse champion Boston Cannons and by the Pigskin Gala Fund, which organizes pre-game fundraising festivities for the City of Quincy's high school athletic programs each Thanksgiving.

Short version: 1 pizza = $3 for the city's high school students.

Boardwalk Pizza will keep score throughout the campaign: adding a blue token to the tally for each pizza sold to a Quincy High President, and a red token for each pizza sold to a North Quincy High Red Raider.

The school with the most pizzas ordered by November 30 will be declared the city’s holiday pizza champ.

More importantly, the donations will be shared equally by students at both schools.

Boardwalk Pizza (www.victorypointmb.com) is open each day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for takeout (617-315-4099) or delivery via GrubHub, Doordash or UberEats.

Guests are invited to wear their team colors when they pick up their orders, take selfies and share on social media with Boardwalk Pizza, The Boston Cannons and The Pigskin Gala with #QNQturkeyday.
