The City of Quincy and Mayor Thomas Koch are proud to invite you to the city's 'Swing on the Common' on Saturday, May 13 from 2-5 pm on the Hancock Adams Common. The 18-piece, “Beantown Swing Orchestra” specializes in the performance of classic Swing Era music with young, talented musicians using vintage instruments & music charts from that period.
We are pleased to feature vocalist and trumpeter Carolina Pérez, daughter of jazz giant Danilo Pérez of Quincy at the event. Also, Andrew Selzer the director of Boston Lindy Hop, one of Boston’s premiere swing dance studios will be on board with his team of “Swinging Dancers”! Always a crowd pleaser this group will have you up and dancing the afternoon away as you enjoy the uplifting music of the 30’s & 40’s.
Bring your own blanket or chair and grab some local take-out or buy lunch from one of our food trucks and make a day of it. Hive beer and wine airstream will be on hand and there will be plenty of lawn games as well.
Quincy Art Association will be hosting the Plein Air Painting but all artists to are welcome to bring your easel, canvas, charcoal, paints and brushes to create your works of art on the common. Email [email protected] to reserve your spot.
