The 28th Annual Quincy August Moon Festival, hosted by Quincy Asian Resources Inc. (QARI) will open with a traditional Lion Dance at 11:00 a.m., followed by hours of live entertainment, amusements, food vendors, fun activities and information for people of all backgrounds and cultures to enjoy.
The festival is part of the global celebration honoring the moon goddess and celebrating a new harvest during the time when the moon is the brightest.
This year’s festival features two stages that will hold cultural performances by local artists throughout the day. Fun activities include a watermelon eating contest, a dunk tank, amusement rides and pony rides. On top of those activities, the South Shore YMCA is also hosting a Children's Area featuring exciting games and face painting. There will also be a food court filled with food and beverage vendors as well as food trucks serving delicious and varied dishes. Exhibits from local businesses and organizations will also be in the area.
The event can be accessed easily from the red line at the Quincy Center MBTA station, and free, ample parking will be made available. More than a hundred passionate volunteers from the community will help to make this a memorable event for everybody to enjoy.
The entire festival is free to the public thanks to our presenting sponsor, South Cove Community Health Center, along with dozens of other businesses, community organizations, and government and social service agencies, many of which will be present during the festival with information to share with attendees.
