Looking for inspiration while staying safely at home? Puppet Showplace Theater is launching a NEW virtual performance series combining live puppet shows with behind-the-scenes demos and interactive audience Q & A. Every Sunday at 3pm, take a virtual trip to Puppet Showplace Theater and connect LIVE online to professional puppeteers. After enjoying a short performance, we’ll meet the artists, learn about their characters, and find out how they made their shows. We’ll also answer questions from YOU! Each session is 45 min-1 hr and is recommended for audiences of all ages.
This week: CactusHead Puppets
Featuring The Pied Piper of Hamelin and a behind-the-scenes tour of the show’s multiple puppetry styles.
May 31 (Sunday) | 3:00 pm
FREE (Donations welcome, suggested $10-$20 per household)
The town of Hamelin has a rat problem, and there's only one person who can help! CactusHead Puppets brings the story of the Pied Piper to life in this comedic adaptation of the traditional folktale. Not only does the town find a musical solution to pest control, but the kids of Hamelin make a new friend and teach the grownups a lesson about generosity. This production features multiple puppetry styles, a silly hat contest, and plenty of dancing rats! After the show, puppeteers John and Megan Regan will take us behind the scenes to meet the hand puppets, rod puppets, and shadow puppets in the show.
