Learn everything you need to know to begin needle felting wool with artist Jennifer McCarthy, owner of The Felted Bee. Grab a friend and learn the art of needle felting in a supportive and relaxing environment. In this beginner friendly workshop, you will learn skills and techniques specific to needle felting as well as how to make your own needle felted wool plant picks.
Included in the price of your ticket:
- Materials to create 6 plant picks
- All the tools
- Two hours of instruction
- A plant to display your picks in
We will be making a few picks together; a pom-pom, a bee and a mushroom. Then you will have time to work and create on your own with the support of the teacher.
Needle felting is a technique of using a very sharp, barbed needle to repeatedly jab into the wool to create felt. The wool becomes tangled and compressed by the needle to create various three dimensional forms.
No experience is necessary, ages 18+. All materials are included, and you get to take your felting needles and foam pad home too.
About Jennifer McCarthy
Jennifer McCarthy owns and operates The Felted Bee, a small felting studio in Rockland, MA. Jennifer has a background in painting, sculpture and art education. After taking a needle felting class 8 years ago, Jennifer fell in love with the magic of wool and all the ways you can create with the medium. She shares her passion for wool by teaching classes & workshops throughout New England and creating one of a kind works of art. When not working with wool, she paints with oil & wax and tends to her many gardens.

Directions and Parking: Located in Assembly Row along the Fit Row side of the shopping center. Assembly Row’s parking rate structure ensures visitors will always have a place to park. Assembly visitors can park for up to 3 hours for FREE. Longer stays will be charged a nominal, hourly rate. A ticketless gate system has been implemented at each of the garages, which allows for credit/debit card entry and exit. Cards will not be charged before the 3 hour time frame, and your information will be automatically erased once you exit the garage.
We are also accessible via the Assembly stop on the orange line.
Cancellation Policy: You will receive a full refund if we are notified via email at [email protected] no less than 72 hours before the start time of the workshop. You will receive a 50% refund if notified no less than 48 hours before the start time of the workshop. No refund is available for less than 48 hour notice.
