Murderous political intrigue unfolds in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, a "history play" that remains intensely relevant to contemporary audiences. Suspicions arise when the beloved Caesar gains popularity among his people. A deadly plot unfolds as he finds himself locked in a life-and-death struggle for power with his former "friends, Romans, countrymen," Brutus and Cassius. The actions of these friends-turned-conspirators set off a civil war at the dawn of the Roman Empire.
